NEC receives order for multilingual cloud-based medical history-taking service for facility in Cambodia

Phnom Penh & Tokyo, February 3, 2016 - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) has received an order for a multilingual cloud-based medical history-taking service to be used at the Sunrise Japan Hospital Phnom Penh (SJH), which is slated to open in fiscal year 2016, from Kitahara Medical Strategies International (KMSI), an affiliate company of Kitahara Neurosurgical Institute (KNI).

SJH was established as part of initiatives to promote medical treatments from Japan as an export industry by Dr. Shigemi Kitahara, Chair of the Board of Directors of KNI, and is part of government efforts to promote the globalization of Japan's medical services.

SJH was built in Phnom Penh, Cambodia's capital city, by Sunrise Healthcare Service Co., Ltd. (SHS), a joint venture of JGC Corporation, Innovation Network Corporation of Japan, and KMSI, to provide advanced medical services primarily through the hospital's emergency medical care center as well as services ranging from neurosurgery to health checkups.

The multilingual cloud-based medical history-taking service, which supports Japanese, English, and Khmer (the official language of Cambodia), will be used to accurately and comprehensively collect a patient's medical information, such as symptoms and past illnesses, through the use of tablets. Further, this service will provide suggestions for potential treatments and examinations in order to support a doctor's recording of medical records, which will support more appropriate diagnosis from the analysis of collected information.

Cambodia has been experiencing rapid economic growth due to increasing political stabilization and the implementation of policies to stimulate national economic growth. Currently, however, the number of patients who travel outside the country for medical treatment has reached more than 200,000 each year, pointing to the need for the establishment of more sophisticated medical infrastructure within the country.

By providing high-quality medical services in Cambodia, SJH will contribute to improving the level of medical services in the country. Further, SJH will establish an organization to provide high-standard medical services through the training of Cambodian medical practitioners.

NEC will provide the multilingual cloud-based medical history-taking service to the facility as part of supporting the reinforcement of diagnosis and treatment by doctors. DATA
